Her Story

About Subhra

I am a multi-franchise owner for Kiddie Academy with two locations in Wisconsin. My Brookfield location has been open for about 6 years and achieved NAEYC accreditation in 2022, which is a national accreditation that makes it a true 5-star center. My Mequon location just opened last month. I serve as administrator owner and director for both schools, which requires different levels of administrative credentials and educational qualifications in early childhood education. My journey to education came after spending approximately 18 years in the corporate field, where I worked for Fortune 500 companies like American Express across various industries including retail, finance, and startups. I hold two master's degrees, one in computer application and one in management from New York University. My passion for education stems from my childhood, as my dad was a professor and principal with a big background in education. After years in corporate, I wanted to add value to my own life and do something with children, which drove me towards education and business ownership. My strength has always been management and leadership, but what truly drives me is adding value to young children's lives. I focus on mentoring my staff and guiding them through thought leadership rather than micromanagement. I believe that once people feel supported, they are excited about what they're doing, and I'm there to create and maintain that excitement. We serve children from 8 weeks through 12 years, with infants through 5-year-olds in full-time care, and 5-plus in before and after school programs, summer camps, and off-day schools. I am passionate about advocating for early childhood education, which I believe is way underrated and undervalued. My teachers often say how thankless the job is, and I want to bring awareness to the bigger society about how this work truly impacts children and the larger community.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think be brave, be smart, and don't let others dictate what you can or cannot do. I think everything is achievable if you have that level of mindset, and just go get it. I think everything, everything is achievable.
