Her Story

About Suchismita

Suchismita Naik, PhD, is a user experience researcher and design strategist, specializing in human-centered artificial intelligence, agentic experiences, and the development of innovative digital products. With more than nine years of experience spanning UX research, interaction design, product strategy, and human-AI interaction, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to solving complex, ambiguous challenges. At Meta, she led end-to-end research initiatives for conversational and agentic AI products, including WhatsApp Business AI, translating user insights into product strategies, interaction concepts, and informed launch decisions across global markets. Throughout her career, Suchismita has worked at the intersection of research, design, engineering, and emerging technology. Prior to joining Meta, she served as a Researcher at Microsoft Researcher, where she conducted exploratory research on multi-agent generative AI and helped shape platform direction, product priorities, and user experiences. At Gramener, she led design research for business intelligence and data visualization platforms, while at Conduent Labs, formerly Xerox Research Centre India, she conducted research and design for mixed reality and speech AI products. Her work has contributed to significant increases in user engagement, two U.S. patents for AR and speech-AI interaction frameworks, and the development of research methodologies and design strategies for complex technology products. Suchismita earned a PhD in Technology with a focus on HCI and AI UX from Purdue University and a Master of Design in Information/UX Design from the National Institute of Design. Her doctoral research explored how multi-agent generative AI can support human connection and belonging, resulting in nine multi-agent AI design patterns and four fully specified agent concepts. She is highly skilled in qualitative and mixed-methods research, interaction design, journey mapping, service blueprints, prototyping, and human-AI interaction. Known for her ability to bring clarity to complex, early-stage challenges, Suchismita combines rigorous research with design thinking and technical fluency to help teams develop AI products that are understandable, trustworthy, and genuinely useful to the people they serve.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Suchismita

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my willingness to pivot, embrace change, and continuously pursue opportunities that challenge me to grow and become the best version of myself within my industry.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received came from a mentor named David S., who recognized my talents and encouraged me to pursue them. His guidance taught me the importance of identifying and developing my strengths, seeking mentorship early in my career, and building relationships with multiple mentors who can offer different perspectives, expertise, and support throughout my professional journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to seek out multiple mentors who can provide diverse perspectives, guidance, and support throughout their careers. I also encourage them to remain open to change and understand that it is never too late to pivot, pursue a new direction, or redefine success. Most importantly, do not settle for something that no longer aligns with your goals simply because of fear or the belief that it is too late to start over.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is understanding how people discover, evaluate, and ultimately purchase products in an increasingly digital and rapidly evolving marketplace. As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries, I believe one of the greatest advantages is the ability to be a generalist—to understand multiple disciplines, connect ideas across areas of expertise, and adapt quickly to new technologies and changing consumer behaviors.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are curiosity, connection, and taking the time to truly understand people. I value learning directly from others through cross-market interviews, fieldwork, and research, and I draw on my background in design, engineering, and data visualization to transform those insights into meaningful and compelling work that stands out.
