What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a strong commitment to continuous learning and curiosity, which has guided my career from 20 years supporting attorneys in law firms to discovering my passion for career development. After being introduced to the field through a community college opportunity, I began creating impactful, data-driven programs, including a preceptorship for LPN students and a job shadow initiative that has connected over 600 students to real-world experiences. My focus is on designing customized, student-centered pathways and building meaningful connections between students and industry professionals. As the founder of Career Shadow Solutions, I continue to bridge education and career opportunities, helping students gain confidence, clarity, and direction.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from a mentor at the career center who encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and lead classroom presentations. That same mentor helped me see a clear path in higher education and career development, which ultimately inspired me to pursue further education and continue building a meaningful career in career coaching.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering this industry to stay open to new opportunities and be willing to explore different paths. Ask questions and actively seek understanding as you grow, while remaining resourceful and committed to continuous development. Most importantly, stay curious and maintain an exploratory mindset, as it will help you build a strong foundation and navigate your career with confidence.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is that it is not yet widely known or fully understood, which requires me to consistently educate others and build awareness around the value of this work. At the same time, there are strong opportunities in showing up authentically, as it helps build trust and open doors. My background in law also gives me an advantage in navigating objections and forming meaningful partnerships with employers.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value personalization and adaptability, ensuring that my work meets the unique needs of those I serve. Transparency and trust are essential in building strong, lasting relationships, and I am deeply committed to growth and making a meaningful impact by approaching challenges with resourcefulness and intention. Outside of work, I recharge through my love of music—especially live cover bands—as well as travel and spending quality time with family and friends. I’m also a motorsports enthusiast, which adds balance and enjoyment to my life. Giving back is equally important to me, and I actively support nonprofit efforts focused on housing and mental health while also introducing students to these causes.
