Summer Scott is a dedicated Notary Public and entrepreneur, where she operates a sole proprietorship as a mobile notary. She is both a traditional Ohio notary public and a remote online notary, having received her traditional commission in February 2025 and her remote online notary authorization in April 2025. Through her business, she provides convenient, reliable notarial services to individuals and organizations throughout her community, building her practice through professionalism, consistency, and strong client relationships. In addition to her notary work, Summer actively grows her business through digital outreach and community engagement. She leverages platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook to connect with clients and dedicates daily time to creating marketing materials using Canva. She also reaches out to local nursing homes and banks to expand her presence and accessibility. Deeply committed to service, she offers discounted and pro bono notary services to low-income families, often waiving both commission and travel fees to ensure essential services remain accessible to those in need. Summer is also advancing her academic and long-term professional goals in accounting and finance. She recently graduated in December 2025 with an Associate of Arts in Accounting from Strayer University and is currently completing her final semester toward an Associate of Arts in Business Administration while progressing toward a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, with 68% completion achieved. A single mother of four, she balances her education, business, and family life with discipline and faith. Looking ahead, her vision is to become a Certified Public Accountant in Ohio and ultimately build a one-stop financial services firm that blends high-level corporate accounting with community-centered support, creating both professional opportunity and meaningful local impact.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a powerful combination of faith and family. My faith serves as my compass, while my children provide the ultimate motivation; I am determined to show them that their potential is limitless, regardless of their beginnings. While my journey involved navigating a complex childhood and a period of restoration with my mother in my early adulthood years, her support has become a vital part of my life, especially as I balance the demands of a growing career. My journey was shaped by the guidance of my Aunt Stacy and Uncle Jim, whose entrepreneurial success inspired me to forge my own path. I also carry with me the lessons of my grandmother, who taught me the value of financial discipline when I was just a child. Today, I am simply nurturing the seeds she planted years ago.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is “Your timeline is not your destiny.” For a long time, I felt like I was behind because I stepped away from college at 19, but I really realized that the time I spent working and raising my children was actually prep time. It taught me that it doesn't matter when you finish, as long as you show up with the most heart and experience.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say stack your skills early. If I were sitting down over coffee with another woman, I'd tell her: “Don’t wait for your degree to define you. Become a notary now, learn about digital tools. When you combine academic knowledge with real-world certifications, you aren't just a candidate, you're a business owner in training. Build your foundation so strong that your success becomes inevitable.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say the biggest challenge is the traditional image of what an accountant looks like. People often assume this field is just about spreadsheets, but it’s really about people. As a single mother building a business from the ground up, I'm challenging that narrative. My goal is to show that you can be a numbers person and a community-focused leader at the same time. I don't see obstacles as stop signs; I see them as data points that tell me where I need to build a stronger bridge.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

To me, my values are like an audit of my character. Integrity is everything- as a notary public and a future certified public accountant, my word is my bond. I also value resilience, because it’s how I've overcome every detour in my path. You're always going to go through something in life, but as long as you keep your faith, focus and motivation strong, and realize that your goals are stronger than any setback, you can accomplish it. I also value service. I believe that when you rise, you have a responsibility to pull others up with you, which is why I strive to own an office firm in the future to provide access to jobs for individuals within my community.
