Her Interview

Ten minutes with Supriya

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my journey and success to the unwavering support of those who believed in me when it mattered most.

My husband encouraged me to return to school, giving me the confidence to take that first, often daunting step. My children and family have been my constant source of strength—reminding me every day why perseverance matters.

There were moments when others questioned my decision to pursue education later in life. But I chose to move forward with conviction, and I’m deeply grateful that I did.

Along the way, I’ve also been fortunate to have a leader Thomas Holiday who not only supported me but mentored me, helping me grow with purpose and clarity.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is simple but powerful: never give up. No matter the challenges or setbacks, persistence and determination are what ultimately lead to growth and success. Staying committed to your goals, even when the path is difficult, has been a guiding principle throughout my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to stay true to yourself and follow your passions. Never stop learning, and don’t shy away from challenges—if you don’t take the “lottery ticket,” you’ll never know your potential. Treat your career like a plant: give it the right foundation, nurture it consistently, and with time, it will grow into something fruitful not just for you, but for everyone around you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In my current role, I’m fortunate to have a supportive team, so I haven’t faced major challenges. However, as a business owner running my 7-Eleven, I navigated significant obstacles, including adapting to a new country, learning its financial and cultural systems, and understanding diversity in ways I hadn’t before. Those experiences, especially engaging with customers from varied backgrounds, taught me resilience and cultural awareness that I now bring to my work. On the opportunity side, I’m constantly exposed to new projects and programs that expand my skills and support my professional growth, and I’m grateful for the learning environment my company provides.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is the cornerstone of all my values, both in my professional and personal life. It is the lens through which I make decisions, the standard I hold myself accountable to, and the foundation on which I build trust and meaningful relationships.

Alongside integrity, I value resilience and continuous growth. My journey from running a business in a new country to evolving in my corporate career has taught me to embrace challenges as opportunities to learn, adapt, and grow stronger.

I also deeply value empathy and respect. Working with diverse teams and communities has reinforced the importance of understanding different perspectives and creating environments where people feel valued and heard.

Together, these values integrity, resilience, growth, and empathy shape how I lead, how I collaborate, and how I show up every day.
