As District Manager for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), she oversees operations across the Central Region, leading with a focus on equity, innovation, and customer service. With a background spanning more than two decade in management roles across the public and private sectors, Suraya has cultivated a reputation for driving organizational growth while fostering inclusive workplaces. Her experience as a CrossFit coach and personal trainer complements her professional approach, reinforcing her belief that physical and mental resilience are essential to effective leadership. Currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Administration, she remains committed to continuous learning and to mentoring others on their path toward leadership and personal development.

Throughout my career with the RMV, I have focused on leading with purpose, empowering others, driving results, and fostering a culture of accountability and respect. My faith keeps me grounded, my family keeps me motivated, and the dedication of my team continually reinforces that leadership is most impactful when it inspires collective success.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be the best version of myself every day. It reminds me that leadership begins with self-awareness and integrity. By striving for excellence, staying true to my values, and continuously learning, I’ve been able to lead with purpose and resilience. This philosophy has shaped not only my career, but also the way I empower others to realize their own potential.

I would advise young women entering my industry to not be afraid to ask for help and to always stand up for themselves.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field right now are limited upward mobility due to hiring freezes and maintaining work-life balance while commuting 4–6 hours daily.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family, honesty, integrity, and growth. My family reminds me of what truly matters and keeps me grounded through every challenge. Honesty and integrity guide how I lead and connect with others, ensuring that my actions always reflect my words. And I believe in never standing still continuing to grow, learn, and evolve so I can bring out the best in myself and those around me.
