Susan Bridges has built a distinguished career in human resources spanning more than three decades, earning a reputation as a strategic leader who puts people at the center of business success. As Director of Total Rewards at Beiersdorf, she leads initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, talent development, compensation strategy, and organizational performance. Throughout her career, she has progressed through roles in recruiting, human resources business partnership, compensation, and total rewards, bringing expertise across industries including consumer packaged goods, legal services, insurance, telecommunications, and professional services. Her leadership has been instrumental in major initiatives such as the integration of the Coppertone acquisition, the development of a new corporate headquarters during the pandemic, and the implementation of innovative compensation planning tools and caregiving benefits.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor's degree in English, Susan later earned a master's degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development from Manhattanville University. She also maintains her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification through HRCI, reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional excellence. Susan attributes her success to her attention to detail, natural curiosity, willingness to ask thoughtful questions, and genuine passion for supporting people. 01What do you attribute your success to?
Being detail-oriented, asking questions, being there for people, and my mentor Christine Andres. I really love working with people and helping them.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Speak up, ask a lot of questions, pay attention, minimize distractions, build a strong network of friends who build you up and broaden your horizons. Work hard to be a good listener.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Helping others, empowering people especially women, building connections, well-being, and making sure people understand their benefits and options.
