About Susan
Susan Nelson is the owner and operator of Sue’s Hand Embroidery, a business through which she has cultivated her passion for hand embroidery and creative design. Based in Enola, Pennsylvania, she has developed extensive experience with traditional embroidery techniques, including cross-stitch, satin stitch, and other detailed needlework. Nelson began learning embroidery as a child and has continued to refine her skills throughout her life, spending the past decade designing and creating her own original projects.
A particular area of specialization for Nelson is the creation of embroidered American flags in a variety of sizes and styles. Her work includes the Colony Flag, designs incorporating the Pledge of Allegiance, and flags representing approximately 30 countries. Through her craftsmanship, she combines creativity, precision, and an appreciation for history and symbolism. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others, reflecting her commitment to preserving the art of hand embroidery and encouraging others to learn the craft.
In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Nelson serves as a Program Coordinator for Salem’s Closet, an outreach ministry through her church that supports individuals and families in need. The ministry maintains an entire floor dedicated to household goods and clothing, providing essential resources to the community. Nelson’s professional and community involvement reflects her dedication to service, creativity, and helping others. Through both her embroidery business and ministry work, she continues to make a meaningful contribution by combining her talents with a strong commitment to her community.
