Her Story

About Susan

I have been in IT and data for around 15 years, always passionate about this field. I started as a data analyst and grew into my current role as a business intelligence consultant, which I have been doing for the past 5 years. I founded my own consulting company after working with higher-ups and receiving more and more referrals until it became too much to handle on my own. What I consistently see is that small business owners and entrepreneurs struggle because they don't have access to technology - they don't know about it, and even in the season of AI, it's still hard to get the right tools and the right IT guidance. Sometimes it's really costly. My mission is to help these small companies get easy tools and easy access to what they need to manage their business IT-wise. One of my proudest moments was when I built something that made such an impact for a company - I identified that they were missing about a million dollars, and within 6 months of fixing it, they recovered only two millions in reconciliation. Another big focus of my company is bringing Latin America and a multilingual environment into the IT industry. As a Latina who is multilingual in several languages, I have holdings in different countries in Latin America, including Brazil, creating an integrated area so professionals from all these countries can join together and make something significant.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be shy and don't get the imposter syndrome. There are a lot of women who underestimate themselves in what they are capable of doing. We need to shake that off and demonstrate our value - don't be shy and show what we are capable of. Another thing is don't give up. This is a roller coaster with good times and bad times, but staying strong really helps. We can't let troubles and discouragement stop us from getting our goals.
