About Suzanne

Suzanne K. Urban is an Inupiat Alaska Native leader, pastor, teacher, author, podcast host, and photographer whose life and work are grounded in faith, family, and service. She has ministered for more than two decades, serving as a pastor since 2001 and stepping in as an interim pastor for churches in times of need. She also founded Awakening House of Worship Online, where her teaching encourages believers to embrace their identity, experience healing, and walk in purpose. Married for over forty years, she is a mother of three and a grandmother of four.

Drawing on her own experiences and the legacy of her mother, Suzanne founded the Betty Jane Foundation for Advocacy of Indigenous Peoples to honor the dignity, resilience, and heritage of Native communities. The foundation is currently in its formative stage as she develops its bylaws and seeks board members. Its mission is to help Indigenous people who have experienced trauma and generational injustice by understanding their needs and connecting them with the right support so they can move forward. She has also contributed to community development and cultural preservation through her service on the Boards of Directors for Mary's Igloo Native Corporation and Teller Native Corporation.

Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Regent University and is pursuing a master's degree in trauma and ministry, with plans to earn a PhD in the same field. She is also completing a certification in grief coaching to deepen her ability to walk alongside people in difficult seasons. As an author contracted with Trilogy Publishing through TBN, she has written multiple works, including two children's books that combine cultural heritage, faith, and storytelling. Through her podcast, writing, advocacy, and photography, she works to preserve Indigenous identity and leave people and communities stronger than she found them.
