Her Story
About Suzzanne
I have been in the restaurant field for about 7 years, working my way up from CSR to assistant manager where I handled training, scheduling, ordering trucks, and running shifts. I fell at work and broke my wrist, so I've been out for 7 months. As a single mom of four, I'm now going back to school for the business side of music to build a better future and support my family. I enjoy music every day, especially R&B and hard rock like Creed.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Suzzanne
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to working hard because that's the only way I'm gonna succeed in life. I take care of my kids, go to school, and work on top of that, so I just gotta work hard in everything I do and stay positive.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
No matter how hard it gets, keep pushing. You'll always make something happen. Just keep pushing, keep doing your best, and you're gonna get where you want to be.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't ever give up. There's always something better in this industry that you can move up to, whether it's management, CEO, or anything in that area. You just gotta work for that and ask why if someone else is getting a position instead of you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenge is trying to get people to actually come to work. People come for a couple days, get a paycheck and leave. Also issues with babysitters or rides. Opportunities include managing restaurants or getting into the music industry once I finish school.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Always stay focused and try to reach the end goal. Be respectful, work hard, get things together, and listen to peers on criticism, taking it into consideration.
