Her Story

About Swagata

Swagata Mitra began her professional career in 1999 as a developer in IT, initially working with Oracle Developer 2000 and later advancing to an architect role in Informatica data warehousing. Her strong people skills, communication abilities, and talent for coordinating teams and solving complex problems led her to transition into project management, where she served for four to five years. After moving to the United States, she took on a process improvement role and grew into automation programs, including robotic process automation implementations for clients such as Citigroup, evaluating ROI and requirements for various organizations in banking, insurance, and healthcare. She participated in IBM's Transformation and Leadership Program, earning certifications in Agile, Lean Six Sigma, and PLD (TLDC), which involved a two-year rotation solving projects. Over time, she evolved into a strategic leader providing direction on technology issues and now works as a technology leader and consultant for a client, handling audit findings remediation, governance programs, project management, and team conflict resolution while wearing multiple hats in AI strategic leadership. Mitra holds a BSc and BTEC in Computer Systems from Thomson University, where she graduated as the topper, and maintains numerous credentials including PMI-certified project manager, AWS-certified consultant, SAFE, RTE, Microsoft Transformation Leadership Program in AI, and Microsoft Copilot. She attributes her success to maintaining purpose and passion, loyalty to herself and her surroundings, and perseverance as a woman navigating cultural biases and obstacles without giving up on her goals. Outside her professional work, she is involved with Sokagai International, a non-profit Buddhist practice organization focused on group prayer and spiritual growth that has helped her develop respect and ethical conduct in her career.
