About Sweta
Sweta Janagoudar is a general contractor based in Sammamish, Washington, with one and a half years of experience in the construction industry. Her career path began as an engineer and senior software engineer, followed by earning a master's degree and serving as a professor in an engineering college. After moving to America, she taught coding to children through after-school programs and volunteered with Girls Who Code in libraries. She later pursued an associate carpentry degree, which inspired her current work remodeling kitchens and building homes. She attributes her success to support from her family, encouragement from friends, and guidance from teachers, and she advises others to dare to jump in where their heart leads without waiting for perfect opportunities. In addition to her professional roles, she volunteers with Anna's to distribute food to the homeless.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the support from my family, a little push from friends, and the teachers.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I would say dare to jump in where your heart feels. If you have a thought like I want to do this, then go ahead and do that. Don't wait for jobs or anything, just jump in.
