Swetha Lakshamanan
Swetha Lakshamanan is a cybersecurity product leader with a master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University. Her professional journey spans roles at Amazon Lab126, Cisco, Splunk, Veza, and currently Obsidian Security, where she drives innovation and builds products that protect complex systems and data. She brings deep expertise in software development, product strategy, and cybersecurity, guiding products from conception through production.
Swetha’s career has been shaped by her experience as an immigrant coming to the United States, a challenge that taught her resilience, adaptability, and the value of continual learning. She credits her achievements to persistence, dedication, and a commitment to growth, both personally and professionally.
Beyond her work in technology, Swetha is passionate about spending time with her two sons and exploring new destinations through travel, which helps her maintain balance and perspective.
Currently, she is channeling her experiences into writing a book, combining her love for storytelling with her desire to inspire and educate others in the technology and cybersecurity space.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to my work in transferring AI to build solutions for my company. Seeing the real-world impact of technology and innovation has been my biggest accomplishment. I have also been fortunate to have a mentor, Kevin at Cisco Systems, whose guidance has helped shape my career and decision-making.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is simple: be in touch with market trends. Understanding where the industry is headed and staying informed allows you to anticipate opportunities and make strategic career moves.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Outside of work, I am deeply involved with my local community, helping keep college students motivated to finish school. I also love spending quality time with my two sons and traveling, which helps me maintain balance and inspiration in both my personal and professional life.
