Sylvia Romero is an accomplished real estate professional with nearly a decade of experience in residential leasing, property management, and real estate marketing. Originally beginning her career in Venezuela, she built a strong foundation in real estate sales, client relations, and investment guidance before expanding her expertise into franchise development, business expansion, and digital marketing. After relocating to the United States, Sylvia refined her English language skills and successfully reestablished her career in the real estate industry, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to professional growth.
Currently serving as Real Estate Manager at The Apartment Guys LLC in Chicago, Sylvia has steadily advanced within the organization, progressing from Licensed Real Estate Professional to Assistant Manager Administrative and ultimately into her current leadership role. She oversees residential leasing operations, mentors and trains leasing professionals, develops marketing initiatives, and ensures clients receive exceptional guidance throughout the leasing process. Her expertise spans residential leasing, negotiation, sales strategy, agent development, client tours, and operational management, complemented by a strong background in digital marketing and business development.
Sylvia's educational background includes studies in Marketing and Management at City Colleges of Chicago–Harry S Truman College and Administrative Sciences with a concentration in Management at Universidad Metropolitana in Venezuela. She has further strengthened her professional capabilities through Google certifications in AI Fundamentals and AI productivity tools, reflecting her commitment to embracing emerging technologies that enhance business performance. Proud of her Venezuelan heritage, Sylvia continues to build a successful career in the Chicago real estate market while empowering clients and colleagues through leadership, professionalism, and a passion for helping others find their ideal homes.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the guidance of my mentor, David Kelly, who has provided me with invaluable opportunities and shared many of the lessons that have shaped my career. I am also deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my family, whose encouragement has motivated me every step of the way. Above all, I believe success begins with commitment, a willingness to learn, and choosing to work with organizations that invest in your growth and development.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, David Kelly. Through his guidance, he taught me the importance of embracing opportunities for growth, continuously developing my leadership skills, and staying committed to excellence. His mentorship has had a lasting impact on my career and has helped shape my success in the real estate industry.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find places, companies that they're actually looking to teach you something, so you can start learning and get the best of your skills. The company I am with focuses a lot in coaching.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Changes with technology and understanding AI to maximize tools. Rising pricing in Illinois and Chicago making inventory slim and pushing people out of communities.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Credibility is the top one. Be transparent, being honest, talk to the clients with the goods and wrongs of the property... Provide insight, help them to decide the right place for them.
