Her Interview
Ten minutes with Synetra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say kind of family, just trying to be a role model for my sister, so I'm the oldest. And so, just was trying to be a lead for her, so she can kind of figure out her way as well. Also speaking with students and at my college to give a guiding light on what not to do, and encouraging them to apply for scholarships and get their CPA before starting work.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To believe in myself. Sometimes I have doubts about what I know, but the best advice from multiple women is to just have the confidence and believe that I know what I'm talking about.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Not to get discouraged, especially in college with courses like intermediate accounting that make or break you. Once you get through that it's more achievable. As you're going through the CPA exam, don't get discouraged because it takes a lot of time to study but you can get through it.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is one of the things. I always wanted to make sure everything was right and that we're not doing anything wrong. That's important professionally because you have to have integrity so people believe in your work. Also family, having time with family is important as well.
