Her Interview

Ten minutes with Syrene

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the work ethic I developed during my time at KPMG. The experience was incredibly demanding, but it shaped me professionally and taught me discipline, accountability, and resilience. Those early years provided the foundation for everything that followed in my career, and they continue to influence the way I lead projects, solve problems, and serve my clients.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to appreciate where you are and never take your current position for granted. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to have several outstanding mentors who reminded me to value every stage of my professional journey because each experience contributes to long-term growth and future opportunities.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to respect the experience of those who came before them. There is tremendous value in learning from professionals who have already navigated challenges and solved difficult problems. While making mistakes is part of growth, seeking guidance from experienced mentors can accelerate learning, strengthen decision-making, and help build a successful career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I see today is leading and motivating a workforce with different expectations, work styles, and perspectives than previous generations. As a leader, I strive to balance those differences while maintaining high standards for quality and results. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect meaningful output and accountability. Successfully bridging those differences is one of the most important leadership opportunities in today's workplace.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value hard work, continuous learning, adaptability, respect for experience, and taking time to recharge. In today's fast-paced environment, it's easy to become consumed by meetings and constant demands, so I believe it's important to intentionally create quiet moments to reflect, decompress, and maintain perspective. Whether it's taking a short walk, enjoying a cup of coffee, or spending a few peaceful minutes outdoors, those moments help me stay focused, energized, and effective both professionally and personally.
