Eight years ago, my daughter drowned and was revived — she survived, but everything changed. Her mood swings, sensory struggles, and sudden withdrawal turned everyday life into a constant crisis. After years of treatment and heartbreak, I asked: What if a single companion could soothe a child, teach them, communicate with them, and simultaneously send actionable data to caregivers and clinicians?

SEPA Babies is a plush-like medical device that looks and feels like a toy but is powered by state-of-the-art AI and medical-grade sensors. It soothes with adaptive voice and touch responses, delivers therapeutic interventions tailored to each child, and streams real-time behavioral and physiological data to caregivers and providers — turning guesswork into informed care.

We’re building calmer, safer days for children and families, reducing hospital visits, and enabling earlier, more effective interventions. I’m seeking strategic partners and seed funding to bring SEPA Babies to families and clinics nationwide. Join us in creating comfort that cares.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my dad, who was an entrepreneur with an inspiring journey. He began in college by owning a newspaper, then moved on to start his own insurance company, and eventually bought radio stations. I was 14 when he purchased the radio stations, and while I thought it was pretty cool, I wasn't thrilled when he insisted that I go on air and DJ. However, that experience provided me with a valuable opportunity to learn how to use my voice in meaningful ways to make a difference and create an impact.

My determination to excel and go above and beyond comes from the spirit my dad has instilled in me. He is not only a great man and a wonderful speaker, but also a supportive father and friend. I hope everyone has people in their lives who uplift them in the same way my father has uplifted me. As we surround ourselves with those who build us up, we, in turn, can uplift others.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to stand tall and proud. Let your voice be heard, teach each other, and be good listeners. I believe that communication is the most important step toward success in life, work, and in pursuing your passions. Sometimes, it's beneficial to sit with an idea for a while; a little marination can lead to clarity. Once I feel ready to move forward, I say it out loud—I express my intentions.

To all the strong, independent women out there, my best advice is to go for it! Your dream might seem impossible, but remember, your voice—and our voices together—makes it possible.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Entering the unknown can be frightening and take your breath away at times. However, when I feel that rush of fear, it also brings a surge of energy that reassures me my intentions are right because my intentions are pure. As empowered women, we must remember to support and cheer for one another. Our dynamic and diversity can create a strong sense of community.

To all the women entering any field, be yourself! Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need; it’s okay to do so. It’s also okay to be business-minded and not take "no" for an answer. Be strong, be brave, and know your value.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My biggest challenge is keeping pace with rapid technological advancements and ensuring I have the right people to facilitate these changes. Everything in my business and the technology we use has been forward-thinking and aligned with our goals.

On the bright side, our product will be incredibly valuable and will promote a new understanding of mental health, particularly for children with neurodivergence, including those on the autism spectrum, as well as trauma survivors.

A major challenge I foresee is gaining recognition for the value of my product. Effectively communicating its importance is crucial to achieving my goals.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My core values have been shaped by my parents, instilling in me a sense of love and compassion for others. I am not afraid to engage with anyone, whether it’s the janitor, waiter, or a person sweeping the streets. I genuinely want to get to know people, regardless of their background.

I believe we can all rise above our circumstances, and that’s what I strive for every day. I remind myself that I am a vessel for good, here to do meaningful things for others and make their lives better.
