Ten minutes with Tajuana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to believing in the gifts God gave me, staying creative, and refusing to give up on myself. I’ve learned that I don’t have to fit into one box. I’m an author, songwriter, and creative entrepreneur, and I’ve turned my ideas into opportunities by putting myself out there, networking, and continuing to learn. Every challenge I’ve faced has pushed me to become more determined. Most importantly, I attribute my success to faith, consistency, and having the courage to bet on myself.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to know my worth and never be afraid to bet on myself. I learned that my gifts have value, and I don’t have to shrink myself or lower my standards just to fit into someone else’s idea of success. I can create my own opportunities, keep learning, stay consistent, and let my work speak for itself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering the creative industry to trust your gifts, know your worth, and don’t be afraid to take up space. Don’t wait for someone else to give you an opportunity. Create your own. Keep learning, network with people, stay consistent, and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Most importantly, protect your creativity and never let rejection make you question what you’re capable of.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the creative industry is standing out in a world where everyone has access to the same platforms and tools. But I also see that as one of our biggest opportunities. Social media gives creatives the chance to build their own audience, showcase their talents, network, and turn their gifts into a business. The key is staying authentic, being consistent, and creating something that people can recognize as uniquely yours.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are faith, family, authenticity, creativity, and integrity. I believe in staying true to who I am and using the gifts God gave me with purpose. Family keeps me grounded, while my faith keeps me moving forward. In my work, I value originality and putting genuine care into everything I create. I want my success to represent not only what I’ve accomplished, but also the kind of person I am along the way.
