Her Story

About Taleshia

Taleshia Moss has been practicing occupational therapy for seven and a half years and has served as an education consultant for approximately one year. She began her career in home healthcare working with the geriatric population before pivoting to school settings two and a half years later, where she developed a passion for understanding how children's brains work and the importance of regulation prior to learning. With a background in trauma-informed care and sensory processing, Moss now focuses her consulting efforts on reaching more students, educators, and families to improve outcomes, particularly for those from challenging backgrounds. She credits mentors including Doreen Head, Director of Occupational Therapy at Wayne State University, and Dr. Regina Parnell for inspiring her to pursue her goals without limits. In addition to her professional work, Moss serves as director of children's ministry at her church and engages with underserved neighborhoods to provide resources and education on brain function and support services. She attributes her success to grit, ambition balanced with self-care, a commitment to excellence, lifelong learning, and her Christian faith.

Ten minutes with Taleshia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would have to say, just grit, right? Being very ambitious, always check in to see, okay, did I do everything with excellence, right? And if I didn't, I need to go back and correct it. And then also, setting new goals for myself. I do think it's important that you are not overly ambitious, because that can lead to stress, but at the same time, I am a lifelong learner, and I constantly want to, learn more and do more, because that makes me makes me more well-rounded. I also have to give a lot of credit to just, God. I'm a Christian, and I do a lot of You know, praying, and just seeking God, asking Him, hey, what is the purpose for my life? You know, why was I created? And that has also helped me quite a bit.
