Her Story
About Tamara
My career path started with an interest in nursing but shifted after a business class to the administrative side of healthcare. I earned my bachelor's in healthcare and business administration in 2014. After working HR at Target, I gained patient-facing experience in a group home from 2016 becoming a manager for 6 years. I joined Cooper University Hospital in 2023 as patient service rep and advanced to office manager overseeing primary care sites. I'm pursuing a master's in healthcare administration while exploring long-term care.

Ten minutes with Tamara
01What do you attribute your success to?
My daughter has been a big motivation to go back to school and advance my career. After having a stroke in 2022, I've been striving to be better and push myself further.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be open-minded. Life sometimes puts you on a different path for a reason. Every challenge and rejection is a lesson to be learned, and there's always something better. Welcome whatever path comes your way with open arms.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is how quickly things can change in healthcare. From state regulations to insurance contracts. You have to be ready to adapt quickly while ensuring your staff and team are prepared.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value time because you can't get it back. Time management is key, which is why I take pride in my work and separate work from my personal life.
