About Tamara
I've been in my field for at least 20 years, and since 2013, I've been running Greater Consulting Group, a boutique consulting firm focused on helping organizations reimagine how they work. My doctoral research and life work has focused on a phenomenon called post-traumatic growth, which is the notion that in the aftermath of a traumatic event, some people have a positive transformational experience. I've applied this to better understand what that means in the workplace, specifically how leaders are translating workplace barriers into breakthroughs, and how HR leaders are leveraging their workplace barriers and transforming them. I'm very much in tune to creating research and initiatives that focus on how people grow and transform through high-pressure and emotionally demanding environments at work. I recently wrote an article in HR Insider Magazine advancing how we think about work, which is especially meaningful because we are living in a time where so many professionals are navigating burnout, uncertainty, organizational change, and identity. In December of last year, I was part of a White House think tank where I was selected to focus on how we are leveraging technical talent within the federal government as a workforce strategy. That experience really shaped my perspective. I previously worked for the Food and Drug Administration in the senior level talent strategy space before being impacted by the federal purge. I'm also a Navy veteran, and I believe that life's pivots are barriers that you have to focus on for the lesson and what you can take from that experience.
