Tamela RodgersPhillips serves as a healthcare administrator, bringing nearly 25 years of experience to her role in facilitating and supporting professionals within the healthcare industry. She earned an associate degree in Health Information Technology from DeVry University online in 2014 and maintains RHIT and CPC certifications. Beyond her daily responsibilities, Tamela focuses on community initiatives by providing continuing education units and developing athletic football and music programs. She also balances her career with entrepreneurial pursuits through her GoPro Shriting Company while emphasizing values of integrity, commitment, and knowledge sharing. Tamela advises maintaining balance in professional and personal life and draws inspiration from leaders who encourage persistence and ambition.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Keep going, don't stop, you have a lot of energy, stay ambitious. You'll get there. Having directors and CEOs reach out and tell you there's hope, dust yourself off, keep going. Look up to others who've been through the same journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Balance. Keep in mind you still have your sorority, class reunions, happy stuff, don't give up these happy times. Find that balance, have your voice, don't lose yourself in the process. Go to reunions, go with family. Lead the way and give others what they need.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenge is getting organization to embrace reality TV for family-friendly show about community work with football and music to make money and show balance. Want to take leave without absence for business. Advocate for family fun without stress.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and commitment. Check legal and ethical parameters. Network and be there for each other. Share knowledge with others as they come up in the field. Give back.
