About Tamia
Tamia Chatman began her career in customer service roles at restaurants and retail, including at Aldi's grocery store. In 2020, around the start of the pandemic, she transitioned into life insurance, completing training that involved script-based presentations and in-person home visits to educate clients on the importance of coverage for their families. She later expanded into health insurance, working with providers such as Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, Cigna (now HealthSpring), and UnitedHealthcare to help clients understand Advantage plans, supplemental plans, and prescription coverage, with a focus on the elderly community. Chatman obtained her insurance license after passing the exam on her third attempt and values remaining teachable while preparing for future opportunities in her field.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always remain teachable. Just because you've been doing something for a long time, doesn't mean you can't learn something new. There are good days and bad days, but cherish the good days and never give up. Nothing is easy in life, but if it's worth doing even though it's hard, keep going at it.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't get so stuck in the now, but prepare and be excited for the future. Embrace it even though it's scary. Take any mistake you encounter and turn it into something you can achieve from.
