Her Story
About Tamicka
I worked for UPS for 28 and a half years before retiring in January at age 53. During my time there, I was a safety specialist who mentored all new hires and led safety meetings to reduce injuries. I've been a certified life coach since 2020, and I'm also a minister serving in multiple capacities in my church. I train and teach in the areas of prayer, with a focus on helping people discover their identity and purpose, and teaching them how to listen to the voice of the Lord. I studied culinary arts and run two businesses - Granny's Catering and Granny's Naturals, where I do juicing and healthy food preparation. My church is in the Riverdale community, where I go out and pray for the community. Now that I'm retired, I'm raising up intercessors through two prayer teams - one for young women and one for young grandmothers. I'm planning a Zoom prayer meeting in May and eventually want to do a retreat with my mentees. My goal is to strengthen families by bringing back family fundamentals like cooking and praying together. I was raised in poverty and was a teenage mom, and I survived an abusive marriage, but God delivered me. I want to be a voice for broken women to let them know they can leave difficult situations and that they don't have to stay. My heart is to guide people out of darkness and into the light, showing them that even after going through the fire, you can come out with a pure heart and without bitterness.

Ten minutes with Tamicka
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to knowing who I am and being able to stand in my own truth. Identity is the most important thing to me - having the confidence to be able to stand in your own truth and knowing what that looks like for you. I've been through the fire and come out with a pure heart. Forgiveness is one of the key things - I don't have any bitterness even though I've been through betrayal. I was raised in poverty, but I'm not anymore, and I retired myself at 53. God delivered me from an abusive marriage even while I was preaching at the time. Now I have the time to be able to focus and pour into humanity with a clear mind, knowing what my purpose is.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Identity and standing in your own truth are most important to me. I believe in having a clear identity and understanding your purpose. Forgiveness is one of the key values - I've been through betrayal but I don't have any bitterness. I'm passionate about strengthening families and bringing back family fundamentals. I want to show others that they can come through the fire with a pure heart, just like I did. I believe in acknowledging God and teaching people how to have that personal relationship with the Lord so they can hear His voice. My heart is to guide people out of darkness and into the light, and to be a voice for broken women to let them know they can leave difficult situations and don't have to stay.
