About Tammy

Tammy Berkman is a Christian educator, curriculum developer, and senior curriculum developer at Teach the Whole Bible, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the Bible easier to understand and teach. Based in Marble Falls, Texas, Tammy draws on her background in elementary and secondary education from The University of Texas at Austin and her experience teaching in public, private, and homeschool settings. Her work was inspired by recognizing the need for children and adults to understand the Bible’s complete storyline and develop a stronger foundation in their faith.

Tammy has developed curriculum designed to simplify the Bible and make learning its 66 books accessible and approachable. Her work includes Learn the Whole Bible ASAP, which presents the Bible’s storyline in a concise, structured format, as well as a companion study focused on helping learners defend their faith. She has also helped make the curriculum available in Spanish and Chinese, extending its reach to learners, families, churches, schools, and mission groups in different cultural settings.

Through her educational and ministry efforts, Tammy has contributed to Bible-learning programs in the United States as well as Kenya, Honduras, Mexico, and China. Her curriculum has been taught to students in schools and community programs, including large-scale initiatives serving hundreds of learners. Through curriculum development, teaching, and outreach, Tammy continues to make biblical education more accessible while helping learners build a comprehensive understanding of the Bible and strengthen their ability to articulate and defend their faith.

Ten minutes with Tammy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my tremendous passion for what I do. My passion motivates me to stay committed, overcome challenges, and continuously strive for excellence.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best pieces of advice that I've ever received was to stop try to stay engaged with what you're doing a little bit each day. Don't put it off and try to do a lot all at one time, but just keep trying to engage in what you're doing a little each day. Also, prayer, a lot of prayer should go into a project like this.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say my industry as a Christian writer, would be, I need to know that God wants me to do this. And I need to do it for his sake, for his, for his credit. He needs to get the credit. And when a writer decides they're gonna do Christian writing and they're gonna give themselves the credit, then it's probably not gonna be, you're not probably not gonna receive as much help from the Lord if you give yourself all the credit. You should give God the credit. And, do it for him.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge for me is marketing. I don't want it to be broadcast all over, because I want more and more people to be able to pass down their faith. And, you know a quick and easy way, and I want to I want them to, see that the Bible can cannot be be intimidating. But, Just marketing and getting the word out is the biggest challenge for me.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are faith, integrity, compassion, and treating others with respect. I strive to follow the Bible and let its teachings guide my decisions, actions, and relationships, both in my work and personal life.
