Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tammy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I always keep growing professionally and on the education side. In the military they taught us to always attend training. I've always liked school and enjoyed learning. You should always keep learning and growing because it only helps you and enhances your capability as a person. I never shy away from an opportunity to take on something challenging or new.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Early on in my career I had some great leaders and they instilled in me that your work ethic and your work is like a direct reflection of you so you should always take pride in that. I see that tends to be lacking sometimes in the workplace.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Young women entering the industry need to make sure that they're in a supportive environment. HR takes a lot out of you mentally because of employee relations. You have to tread lightly but stand firm on your principles and integrity. You have to remain strategic and aware of your surroundings and have great leadership.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, trust, respect for others which should be reciprocated. You need to be able to depend on your leadership and they need to be able to depend on you. Communication. Work ethic and taking pride in your work.
