Her Story

About Tammy

Tammy Hubbard is a healthcare professional and Clinical Device Specialist with more than two decades of experience in surgical technology, specializing in labor and delivery and women's health. She has spent over a decade supporting obstetric surgical teams while developing expertise in clinical education, medical device implementation, and healthcare consulting. Recognized for her ability to quickly integrate into diverse clinical environments, Hubbard has served as a national travel surgical technologist across more than 20 healthcare facilities throughout the United States, where she has trained multidisciplinary teams, supported the adoption of advanced obstetric technologies, and promoted safe, evidence-based patient care.

Inspired to pursue a healthcare career after witnessing her mother's open-heart surgery, Hubbard earned an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology from Anthem Career College, graduating at the top of her class with a perfect 4.0 GPA while balancing the responsibilities of being a full-time wife and mother. Following a life-changing battle with stage III triple-negative breast cancer, she returned to the profession with renewed purpose, viewing her work in labor and delivery as both a calling and a ministry dedicated to ensuring healthy outcomes for mothers and newborns. Throughout her career, she has combined technical expertise with compassionate patient care, earning the trust of physicians, nurses, and clinical teams nationwide.

Beyond her clinical accomplishments, Hubbard is passionate about encouraging others to overcome adversity through faith, resilience, and perseverance. A breast cancer advocate, aspiring nonprofit founder, and author, she is committed to empowering individuals facing life's challenges while advancing education within women's healthcare. Guided by her belief that exceptional care begins with compassion and service, she continues to leverage her extensive clinical experience to improve patient outcomes, support healthcare professionals, and make a lasting impact on the communities she serves.

Ten minutes with Tammy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the grace and favor of God working throughout my life. Surviving stage III triple-negative breast cancer transformed my perspective, strengthened my faith, and gave me the courage to pursue opportunities without fear. That experience taught me resilience, expanded my outlook on life, and empowered me to embrace new challenges with confidence.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I have received is, "Don't allow people to tell you that you can't do it." I have carried that mindset throughout my career, refusing to let limitations or the opinions of others define what I am capable of achieving.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to pursue their dreams wholeheartedly and never allow anyone to discourage them from reaching their goals. Be willing to make the sacrifices necessary for success because the rewards are worth it. Believe in yourself, remain committed, and never let others determine your potential.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges in healthcare is re-entering the workforce after an extended career interruption, as employment gaps can create obstacles despite prior experience and expertise. At the same time, the profession offers tremendous opportunities for personal growth, meaningful service, travel, and the ability to positively impact the lives of patients and families every day.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My faith is the foundation of everything I do. I also value family deeply, and being a mother and grandmother is one of my greatest blessings. I believe in resilience, compassion, courage, and serving others with excellence. These values guide both my professional career and my personal life, inspiring me to make a positive difference wherever I can.
