Ten minutes with Tammy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to standing before the Lord, seeing a therapist regularly to maintain emotional intelligence, and having supportive leaders like Dr. Patty Young and Glenda Garrett who back me up.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Seek God early so you don't waste time on the wrong path. Stay in the Word, pray, find a good mentor who will cheer you on and be honest with you. Work on yourself continuously to avoid letting baggage affect how you treat others.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is people not understanding the importance of my department - we feel like stepchildren and I have to fight to get what we need. The blessing is my staff supports me 100% and we are like a family.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and being considerate of others. I try to be mindful of how I speak and treat people because you only get good when you give out good.
