About Tammy
Tammy Mazure serves as a 1st Sergeant in the United States Air Force, where she acts as an advisor to her commander and supports the morale, well-being, and readiness of airmen in her squadron while assisting with disciplinary matters. With more than 20 years of service, she started her career in logistics as a superintendent on the flight line, ordering aircraft parts and managing transportation for a maintenance squadron. She then spent eight years as a recruiter for enlisted personnel, officers, and healthcare members before returning to logistics in a management position overseeing airmen and advancing to first sergeant approximately two and a half years ago. Outside her military duties, Mazure founded the Fountain of Hope organization and has worked to support the homeless by providing meals while raising awareness about sex trafficking, including efforts at Luke Air Force Base.

Ten minutes with Tammy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think it's the supervision that I had once I had been in for about 6 years. My leadership has shifted and changed, and I felt like they saw my worth a lot more than what my old leadership had, and it kind of made me blossom. When you have a good supervisor taking care of you, it's gonna help you grow a lot more than someone who's just there for a paycheck.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Going into the Air Force, you want to join the Air Force, you don't go in to join to do a specific job. Go in because you want to join the Air Force to get whatever benefit it is that you're wanting to join for. In a leadership role, be genuine, be yourself. Don't be a micromanager. Really just try to take care of your people, and the more you try to take care of your people, the harder that they're gonna wanna fight and work for you.
