About Tanya
Tanya Balderas has spent more than a decade in the technology sector, beginning her professional journey as a video editor at Telemundo. She subsequently developed skills in graphic design while working at a couple of agencies. During a UX boom around 2016, she gained expertise in human-centered design and design thinking while at USAA, where IBM professionals provided training. After approximately four years in corporate roles, she explored opportunities at startups before returning to corporate work at iHeart. At iHeart, she initially contributed to applications used by DJs for live radio shows and now works on the backend systems supporting advertisement processing. Her work has evolved to incorporate AI tools that generate functional prototypes, bridging product design and front-end development. Throughout her career, Balderas has emphasized adaptability to rapid technological changes and the value of empathy in user experience design.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think just knowing that if you were given that position or considered for a position, it's because you already know what to do. Stay sure of yourself. Tech needs women because we bring a unique perspective, like in cybersecurity where feeling safe is something we've grown up with. A woman's perspective is always needed.
