Her Story
About Tanya
Tanya Jordan Hathorn is an author, domestic violence advocate, and outreach leader based in Louisville, Mississippi. Drawing from her own nearly 14-year journey with domestic violence, Tanya transformed her experiences into a mission of hope and empowerment for others. She published her first book, Silent Tears, in 2017, a memoir that shares her story of survival and resilience, followed by two additional books that continue to address themes of healing, faith, personal growth, and overcoming adversity.
Before becoming a full-time author and advocate, Tanya dedicated many years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother and later worked as a mental health specialist at Diamond Grove Hospital, supporting children and adolescents for nearly five years. She also developed entrepreneurial skills through her home-based baking business, creating and selling more than 40 varieties of pound cakes locally. Her diverse experiences in caregiving, mental health, and business have shaped her compassionate approach to serving others.
Tanya conducts domestic violence seminars, outreach ministry, and community initiatives focused on encouraging survivors to seek hope, healing, and a path forward. She credits her strength and success to faith, prayer, perseverance, and staying true to herself. A 1983 graduate of Knoxapater High School, Tanya views both formal education and her life experiences as valuable teachers, using her story to inspire others to remain focused, find purpose, and believe that transformation is possible.
