She attributes her success to her parents, who were entrepreneurs with up to 11 floral shops and taught her mantras, positive thinking, and self-belief from a young age, reinforced by her experience as an all-state basketball player. Her core values include love of self, others, and life, along with hard work and diversity.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tanya
01What do you attribute your success to?
My parents were entrepreneurs who had up to 11 floral shops. They were hard-working, and they believed in me before I had the ability to believe in myself. My father would say if you wanted to be president, you could be president. They taught me mantras and how to think positively, which built my self-belief and mental toughness from my days as an all-state basketball player.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
With social media everything comes at us so quickly and most of us are trying to follow a blueprint for someone else's life. We all have a very unique gift and calling. Trust what is on your heart. Look to people and what they're accomplishing to know it's possible, but trust that your journey is going to look so different from everyone else's, and that's just how it's supposed to be.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Love of self, love of others, love of life. I value hard work. I value diversity because when more diverse people are in a space, we are more full, we have better ideas, and we do greater good together.
