Ten minutes with TanyaSue

01What do you attribute your success to?

I contribute my success to resilience, faith, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when life has been difficult. My childhood taught me perseverance, and my career in nursing taught me compassion, leadership, and how to serve others during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Those experiences shaped who I am today.

When I transitioned into insurance, I didn’t leave my purpose behind—I simply found a new way to help people. Instead of caring for families during medical crises, I now help them prepare financially before those crises happen. That same heart for serving others continues to guide every decision I make.

I also credit my family for giving me a strong ‘why.’ They inspire me to build something meaningful, create a lasting legacy, and show my children that hard work, integrity, and perseverance can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

Above all, I believe success isn’t measured only by professional achievements. It’s measured by the lives we impact, the relationships we build, and the difference we make in our communities.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Someone once told me, ‘Your reputation is built by what you do when no one is watching.’ That stayed with me throughout my nursing career and now as a business owner. Skills can be taught, but integrity, compassion, and consistency are what people remember. Those values have opened more doors for me than any title ever could.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to never let anyone tell you that you can’t succeed. Your past, background, or circumstances do not define your future. Believe in yourself, make the most of every opportunity, and pursue your goals with confidence because your dreams and ambitions are there for a reason.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field are overcoming the lack of trust caused by people being taken advantage of and the perception that financial services can be a scam. Additionally, as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated profession, I often see hesitation from clients who may not expect to receive financial advice from a woman. However, this also creates opportunities to bring a more compassionate and approachable perspective, helping clients feel comfortable and confident in their financial decisions while inspiring other women to see that success in this industry is possible.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are integrity, compassion, resilience, faith, and service. I believe people deserve honesty, respect, and someone who genuinely has their best interests at heart. Those values guided me throughout my years in nursing, where caring for others was both a responsibility and a privilege, and they continue to guide me today in the insurance industry.

Personally, my family I have built is at the center of everything I do. They are my greatest motivation and the reason I strive to build a meaningful legacy. Professionally, I want every client to feel heard, educated, and confident in the decisions they make to protect their loved ones.

Life has taught me that success isn’t about titles or recognition—it’s about treating people with kindness, doing the right thing even when it’s difficult, and leaving every person better than you found them. Those are the values I hope to be remembered for
