About Tanzima
Tanzima Islam is a computer scientist at Texas State University in Austin, Texas. She joined the university in 2020 but has been active in her professional research field since 2007, when she came to the United States for her PhD program. Her work centers on high-performance computing, specifically making supercomputers faster and more reliable so that large-scale simulations, such as those for rocket design or cancer drug development, can run without interruption despite hardware failures in these massive systems. Islam discovered her specialization during an internship at a Department of Energy National Lab. She maintains memberships in ACM and IEEE and founded her own nonprofit research and mentoring platform in Bangladesh. She has also benefited from opportunities provided by the Sustainable Horizons Institute.
