Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tara

01What do you attribute your success to?

Hard work, determination, and integrity. Not being afraid to introduce myself and ask for help or ask for an introduction to someone who can help.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't shrink yourself for someone else's agenda. Don't let other's urgency become your emergency.

At the same time, show up reliably and be prepared. Always remain professional.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't work too hard at a job you don't actually want.

Be clear with yourself what your goals are and reasonably work to achieve those.

Move on when others get in your way rather than support you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Healthcare always affords lots of opportunities.

The challenges here remain the same as elsewhere: women don't have as many seats at the table and aren't paid commensurately with men, but slow progress is being made.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, first and foremost.

Putting my goals, professional and personal, first is my focus.

Balance between hard work and challenge and time to rest, recover, and play is the key.
