Her Story

About Tara

I've been in marketing for 10 years, and I'm currently the Founder and CEO of GlowFluential, an influencer marketing agency I launched 5 months ago. We specialize in working with beauty, wellness, and lifestyle brands, helping them turn influencer partnerships into revenue drivers. Prior to founding this agency, I worked in corporate marketing with major U.S. brands, including Stanley Black & Decker where I ran campaigns that earned recognition. But I ultimately realized that corporate life wasn't for me - I've always been an entrepreneur at heart. So I made the leap to start my own business and build it from the ground up. Right now, I'm handling everything - leading strategy for all our clients, business development, account direction, relationship building, and sales. I bring in contractors for tactical work, but the core strategy and growth of the business is all on me. My most notable professional achievement so far is founding this business and taking that entrepreneurial leap.

Ten minutes with Tara

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to constant learning and constantly evolving my network. I make it a priority to learn from others who have already achieved what I'm looking to achieve. I find that learning from people who've already done it is the fastest way to get to your goals. That's been my approach - seeking out those who have been where I want to go and learning from their experiences.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was: Don't listen to anyone's opinion who hasn't achieved what you are looking to achieve, or who hasn't been where you're looking to go. This has been a guiding principle for me - only taking advice from people who have actually walked the path I want to walk and accomplished what I want to accomplish.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering marketing to build a strong network and always be learning. Never stop learning. This industry is always evolving and changing, and you need to know what's the latest. Those would be my two biggest pieces of advice - stay up to date on all the technologies and tools and changes, and make sure to build a strong network. These two things are essential for success in marketing.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I'd say the biggest challenge and opportunity is everything going on with AI right now. There are a lot of shifts that marketers are having to navigate. It's a challenge because junior-level marketers are scared for their jobs being completely taken over by AI. And as a marketing agency, there are a lot of brands that are seeing how they can work AI in-house to cut costs with agency partners and team members. But on the other side, it's also an opportunity because you can utilize it to your advantage as a business. I think it's all about how you position yourself - you can't fight it, you have to learn how to incorporate it into your business model. So on that side, I'd say it's an opportunity.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me include relationship building, making sure that practices are always ethical, and being inclusive. I like to foster a culture where everyone feels that they have a voice and are heard. Personally, I'm really big on transparency and trust, and I feel like that goes hand-in-hand with both the personal and business side. Transparency, trust, and just being a good partner - on the ethics side, I feel like these are good values to have foundationally to have any successful relationships personally, and along with building a strong business.
