Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tara

01What do you attribute your success to?

My mom told me 'can't never tried' when I was a teenager. I have heard her voice in the back of my mind every single time something has seemed hard or not possible. I always try my best because can't never tried.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life, but check your thoughts every day and live by design instead of by default so when you go into work you're grateful for what you get to do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

There are no limits. You can do and be anything. We are only limited by our decisions.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

People's desire for personal gain has polarized us and pitted us against one another. The challenge is having people see that we're more alike than different, whether in coaching, pipeline work, or politics.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and transparency, including being honest with yourself, and commitment. When you undertake something, if there's a change in commitment it better be for a damn good reason.
