About Tara

Tara McHenry is a nonprofit development and strategic partnerships leader based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has worked in the nonprofit field since 2013. She currently serves as Director of Strategic Partnerships at 412 Food Rescue, a role she has held since March 2023, where she leads institutional funding and manages relationships with corporations and foundations. Her earlier career includes approximately three years at New Century Careers, where she began with administrative work and transitioned into grant reporting and proposal writing for the Manufacturing 2000 Machinist Training Program. She then spent about six years at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown as the first to establish their grant program, later adding corporate sponsorships. Tara holds a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies from Slippery Rock University with minors in geography and nonprofit management. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and its Western Pennsylvania chapter. Outside her professional role, she has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and currently supports local cat rescue efforts through Homeless Cat Management Teams and Pittsburgh Cats.
