What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my strong work ethic, determination, and ability to build lasting professional relationships. My journey began with We Do Shutters, Inc. which introduced me to the construction industry and opened the door to new opportunities—an experience that was later featured in Women in Business by Gulf Shore Magazine. This path eventually led me to Dakota Homebuilders, where I expanded my expertise by managing accounting and office operations, working in the field, and bringing my established clientele with me. Through these experiences, I developed meaningful partnerships with contractors and honed a deep understanding of both the business and operational sides of construction.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, Jill Johnson, the owner of We Do Shutters. She saw potential in me before I saw it in myself and gave me the opportunity to prove what I was capable of. Her belief in my abilities taught me the importance of recognizing and nurturing talent in others—a lesson that continues to guide me throughout my career.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the construction industry is simple: don’t give up. Continue to educate yourself, stay determined, and approach every opportunity with authenticity and confidence. Be genuine in everything you do—and most importantly, shine brightly. Let your passion and hard work speak for themselves, and don’t be afraid to break barriers along the way.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are integrity, honesty, authenticity, and kindness. I believe in always being genuine and staying true to who I am, no matter the circumstance. One of my proudest accomplishments was running a construction company on my own and transforming 15,000 square feet of raw space into 46 beautiful salon suites—a project that reminded me of the power of vision, perseverance, and integrity. Beyond work, I find joy in photography, spending time with my children, helping others, and making people’s day a little brighter. Being out in nature grounds me and inspires me to keep creating and giving my best every day.
