Her Story
About Tara
I have worked for more than 20 years in human resources, managing people and working with Fortune 500 companies alongside top-tier management like CEOs, CTOs, and chairmen. When I moved to the U.S. as an immigrant on a dependent visa, I experienced a downfall in my career. As a woman, I wanted to put my word across that there is hope. During my break time when I was not able to work, I put all my effort into improving my craft, measuring my skills, and understanding how the U.S. market works. When I got the opportunity to get back to the workforce, I was ready and the industry gave me opportunities. I even worked as a volunteer for many organizations, straightening up their HR processes and policies. Now I'm working as an HR manager with one of the firms, aligning their department, coming up with policies, and charting the path for their progress. My role always demands being with the board members, seeing and talking about what I observe. I know the market is really tough, but all women out there can still get back to the workforce after a gap. They should not be declined from any kind of opportunities. I thought this would be a great platform to share that message of hope.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say just go with an open mind. If you are really interested, if you're a people person, and you really want to make a difference, first is invest yourself in a good education. Get the knowledge. Parallelly just work in some organization under someone who really has a hand-holding. It is a very good profession where we can definitely make a difference in the AI world. Along with AI parallelly, we both can exist. I would say that HR is one of the fields which is one of the best fields in the industry, which is the main key. It's as important as any other department because it ties up everything together. So definitely I would recommend them to follow these steps, and go solo and live their dream.
