Tara Sheard is a dedicated paralegal at Johnson, Toal & Battiste, P.A., where she has over two decades of experience supporting legal professionals across a variety of practice areas, including personal injury, workers’ compensation, family law, probate, civil litigation, medical malpractice, and criminal law. In her role, she manages complex casework, drafts and files pleadings, coordinates process service, compiles discovery requests, and provides critical administrative support that ensures the smooth operation of the firm. Her expertise in legal research and case management has made her an invaluable member of the legal team.
Beyond her professional career, Tara is deeply committed to community service and youth development. She serves as Church Secretary at Shiloh AME Church in Elloree, South Carolina, and volunteers as Director of the Young People’s Division (YPD) and as a DMC Commissioner for the Central Conference Debutante and Master Commission. In these roles, she helps children grow spiritually and make wise life decisions while promoting discipline and personal development. Tara is also active in soup kitchens, clothing drives, and other community outreach initiatives. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and is pursuing her Ph.D., with a vision to open a community center for children to provide mentorship, resources, and safe spaces for growth.
Tara holds a Master of Science in Individual and Family Development from South Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Claflin University. Her combined experience in law, administration, education, and community service reflects her unwavering dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. Known for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to youth and community empowerment, Tara continues to inspire those around her through both her career and volunteer work.
