Ten minutes with Tara
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the strong work ethic my parents instilled in me from an early age, along with my commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the insurance industry. I believe in staying informed, continually studying industry regulations, and adapting as the field evolves. I also value stability and the relationships built through long-term commitment to an organization and its clients. Above all, I have learned the importance of perseverance, showing up consistently, never giving up, and being there for my clients every day with dedication and dependable service.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to simply show up every day and give your best effort. Challenges and difficult days are inevitable, but perseverance and a positive mindset can make all the difference. I believe in not giving up when things become difficult, remembering that tomorrow is a new day and an opportunity to learn, improve, and keep moving forward.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the insurance industry is to approach the profession with focus, discipline, and a willingness to learn. This is not a career where you can simply sit behind a desk and operate without understanding the details. Pay attention, stay grounded, follow established workflows, and continually study to remain current on industry regulations and changes. The work can be challenging, but persistence and a strong commitment to learning can open opportunities for advancement, particularly by pursuing the appropriate Property and Casualty licensing and examinations. Most importantly, do not give up; stay engaged, keep developing your expertise, and you can build a rewarding and successful career.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is ensuring that every client feels supported and satisfied, particularly because commercial insurance clients are often highly engaged and hands-on throughout the process. At the same time, this creates an opportunity to build strong, trusted relationships by understanding each client’s unique needs and priorities. My goal is to help clients secure the right coverage and the best available premium for their circumstances, rather than simply pursuing the highest or lowest price. Ultimately, it is about balancing coverage, value, and service to deliver solutions that truly meet the client’s needs.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, consistency, and approachability. I believe in always being truthful, taking responsibility for my mistakes, and being accountable for my actions. Consistency is equally important to me, both in how I have raised my children and how I conduct myself professionally. I also strive to be approachable and create an environment where people feel comfortable communicating openly, asking questions, and knowing they can rely on me.
