About Taren

Taren Flippens serves as a Business Development Associate and Appointment Setter at Angie, based in Columbus, Indiana. For the past 4 years, she has focused on identifying and qualifying enterprise-level companies with revenues of 10 million or more, screening prospects, and setting appointments for business development managers to facilitate corporate partnerships. Her professional journey includes prior experience in sales, as an intake specialist for recovery through her church, and as a kitchen designer and associate manager in retail, where she honed skills in client interaction and organization. Taren values integrity above all in her work, guided by her faith, and ensures she never pursues a sale that does not genuinely benefit the client. She attributes her success to determination and persistence during challenging times, along with a positive outlook on change as an opportunity for growth. Outside her role, Taren is writing and preparing to publish women's Bible study workbooks and participates in church-based volunteering, including sobriety support programs and feeding the homeless.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Taren

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to determination and persistence when it's hard. We go through a lot of changes in sales, a lot of things change from day to day, and I do well with change. I have a great outlook on change and view change as growth.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The biggest advice, whether it's professional or at home, is just being open to change, because that's where growth happens.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be okay with being uncomfortable. Growth is not always comfortable. A lot of things are hard, but just keep pressing. You have to be adaptable.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Enjoy the job. The challenge is coming in with a renewed mind for a new day every day. Don't come in with the residue of yesterday, whether good or bad. Let every day be new.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The Lord and integrity. Never make a sale that I don't feel like is good for somebody. I care more about the next person than my commission.
