About Tasha

Tasha S. Byrd is an author-entrepreneur and resilience + relationship coach with over five years of experience in her field. Based in Torrance, California, she began her journey as an author after years of journaling since fourth grade as a personal outlet and therapy. She published her first book in 2021 as part of the anthology Blessed Not Broken and later founded her business I Choose Too, which includes selling merchandise such as t-shirts, hosting writing workshops and events for women, mothers, and daughters, and providing resilience coaching to create safe spaces for healing and growth. Byrd holds a pharmacy tech certification, a business certification from eCornell, and a certification as a relationship and resilience coach, along with some college education. She has received the National I Am Her Award, Woman of Influence, Woman on the Rise, and was a nominee for Author of the Year in Tennessee, as well as certificates from the cities of Los Angeles, Compton, and Hawthorne for community service and volunteering. Byrd attributes her success to her faith as a God-fearing woman who obeys God's direction and her family-oriented values, advising others to move afraid with faith over fear, make connections with like-minded women, and value themselves through self-discovery and prayer.

Ten minutes with Tasha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success resilience, courage, determination, and being intentional about becoming the woman God created me to be. As a mother and grandmother, I’ve learned that one of the greatest examples I can give is to never give up on yourself, your dreams, or your goals—and to understand that true success starts within.

I’ve also learned not to compare my journey or my level of success to anyone else’s. My journey is mine. I simply focus on doing the work, staying consistent, growing, and trusting God’s timing. When you put in the work and remain faithful to the process, you learn that what is meant for you will come in its appointed time.

So, I attribute my success to faith, resilience, intentionality, and the willingness to keep showing up for myself even when the journey doesn't look the way I imagined.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is simple "move afraid" choose faith over fear and move anyway.

Business and entrepreneurship can be unpredictable. There will be curves, uncertainty, doubt, and moments when you question whether you’re on the right path. But I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out to take the next step. Yes, capital is important, and investing financially in your business matters. But one of the most valuable investments you can make is your time, the time you dedicate to learning, growing, building relationships, showing up, and staying committed to your vision.

You may feel afraid, but don’t let fear make the decision for you. Move anyway. Your courage to keep moving may be the very thing that takes your business to the the level.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the author and entrepreneurial space is to know your WHY. Be clear about why you’re stepping into this industry and what you want your work to accomplish.

Ask questions, lots of them and never be afraid to say, “I don’t know.” It will be of value to surround yourself with like-minded people who will challenge, encourage, and support your growth. Invest in mentorship, coaching, and educate yourself. Both your time and your money are investments in the woman and business you’re becoming.

Most importantly, build your confidence, pray, and speak life over yourself daily. Respect the process. There will be lessons, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty, but they’re all part of the journey.

And when you walk into a room, don’t shrink yourself. Walk in knowing you belong there, your voice matters, and with faith, preparation, and persistence, you can do more than you you have imagined.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is that people often show up looking polished, confident, and successful while quietly navigating challenges they don’t always feel safe enough to share. In the author, coaching, and personal-development space, that can make it difficult to have honest conversations about the healing, trust issues, and personal experiences happening beneath the surface.

As a visionary author and coach, I also know that sharing deeply personal stories—especially through nonfiction writing—requires vulnerability and trust. Finding the right person to guide you through that process can take time, and that’s part of the challenge.

But within that challenge is an incredible opportunity: creating safe spaces where women can heal, find their voice, and tell the truth of their stories without shame. I believe healing and personal growth create room for so much more creativity, self-love, confidence, ambition, and even greater opportunities in business.

My passion is to help women move from simply surviving what they’ve experienced to building from what they’ve overcome. Because once you heal, reclaim your voice, and realize who you are, the sky truly is the limit.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me both professionally and personally are purpose, authenticity, growth, service, and faith. In my work, I believe storytelling has the power to change lives. It’s one of the most powerful and often overlooked ways we connect, heal, and inspire one another. I’m passionate about shining a light on the strength, wisdom, and greatness that can come from a woman’s life experiences. Whether through storytelling, workshops, coaching, or simply being a source of support, I believe every part of the journey matters and every piece contributes to building something greater.

Personally, I value knowing my worth, honoring my experiences, and embracing the wisdom and lessons they’ve given me. I believe in showing up for yourself, practicing self-care, making room for joy, and staying excited about life. And at the foundation of it all is my faith: keeping God first and trusting that everything else will align in its proper place.

At the end of the day, I want my work and my life to reflect one thing: what you've been through can become part of what makes you powerful, purposedul, and impactful!
