Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tashsa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I feel like I've always kind of been a goal-oriented person, but I would say that my daughters probably pushed me. I know it kind of sounds a little cliche, but I was a single mom first, and so I think just knowing that I needed to be somebody for her pushed me. As I just kept going, people around me were like, you should do this, you should do that. I never thought I'd be in a leadership role, to be honest with you, and everybody around me was like, why would you think that? When I landed there and I had the right people around me at the right time, I think that helped.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to be confident. Try to become confident at the fact that you don't know what you don't know, and that's okay. And always be curious. Confident and curious, that's probably what I'd say.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say challenges is that there's a lot out there, meaning that there's a lot of competition, there's a lot of people, there's a lot of technology, there's a lot to siphon through. Because we have access to so much, the challenges are just that there's a lot to digest and to go through, so that can be challenging for some people, overwhelming. Being able to know where to kind of put all your energy in can be challenging because you have so many options, or now we know there's so many options. But that's also an opportunity, right? There's so many opportunities out there. You just gotta focus on which one you want to grab.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is probably everybody's number one. I want everybody around me to be kind and compassionate. If it was personal and professional, those are probably the things I teach my kids.
