Tasia Clark is a visionary entrepreneur, founder, and CEO of Brownspace, a tech-powered platform focused on emotional wellness and community connection. With a career spanning technology, healthcare, public affairs, and community engagement, she leverages her expertise to create culturally responsive spaces that support healing and connection for underserved populations. Tasia is passionate about addressing gaps in mental health resources and fostering safe, inclusive environments that empower individuals and communities.
Prior to founding Brownspace, Tasia gained extensive experience in healthcare and public service, including roles as a medical scribe, assistant clinic administrator, and executive assistant at APS & Associates. She has also contributed to public affairs initiatives through her work with the City of Chicago and other civic organizations, helping to establish programs that promote equity and behavioral health access. Her background in biology and her minors in chemistry and entrepreneurship from Xavier University of Louisiana provide a strong foundation for her interdisciplinary approach to leadership and innovation.
As a strategic leader and advocate, Tasia is recognized for her ability to drive impact despite limited resources, guiding her growing team in technology, operations, and community outreach. She has received accolades such as 3rd place in the Biztech Challenge and the Audience Choice Award in a 2023 pitch competition for her work in behavioral health innovation. I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and a commitment to community. My ability to maintain focus on long-term goals, even while navigating startup challenges and limited resources, has been critical to building Brownspace and driving impact in emotional wellness.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to pursue ideas confidently, seek mentorship, and persevere through rejection. This guidance has taught me to stay resilient and strategic, even when opportunities seem scarce.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to believe in their ideas, remain audacious, and actively seek support and mentorship. It’s essential to persevere through obstacles, maintain resilience, and stay committed to a long-term vision for both professional and personal growth.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
A major challenge is limited access to capital and securing strategic partnerships, particularly for Black women founders who historically receive a small percentage of VC funding. However, this also presents an opportunity to innovate, leverage community support, and build alternative pathways for sustainable growth.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith, resilience, community, and integrity are central to everything I do. I prioritize balance, joy, and service, ensuring that my work uplifts others while remaining aligned with my personal mission and ethical standards.
