Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to personal growth and a mindset that views setbacks as opportunities. By journaling, reading, and trusting in God’s plan, I’ve cultivated resilience and maintained a focus on serving others, even in challenging circumstances.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve received is to view “no” as “not yet.” This perspective allows me to remain patient, persistent, and strategic while pursuing my goals.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You are not defined by what you lack but by who you are. Steward your opportunities responsibly, embrace setbacks as moments to grow, and focus on your values and integrity in all that you do. People will respect you for being yourself and you will appreciate yourself more by being authentically you, not who others think you should be.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility remain significant challenges in higher education and social services. At the same time, these challenges are opportunities to design systemic solutions, advocate for underrepresented groups, and foster meaningful institutional and organizational change.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, empathy, stewardship, faith, service, and the commitment to seeing and supporting the person first in every interaction. Helping people to feel and know they are necessary, needed, and valuable builds stable, supportive relationships and communities.
