Her Story

About Tayla

Tayla Renteria is a dedicated hospitality professional who serves in guest services as a housekeeper, bringing years of hands-on experience and a strong commitment to excellence in every aspect of her work. For nearly two years in her current role, she has been responsible for maintaining impeccably clean guest rooms and bathrooms, preparing beds to the highest standards, and creating welcoming environments that leave lasting impressions. After immigrating to the United States, she built her career through determination and practical experience, first working in a nursing home and later in several hotel properties. While working at a hotel in Miami, she refined her housekeeping techniques under the guidance of a supervisor named Manuel, eventually advancing into leadership responsibilities where she trained and mentored new team members while helping uphold exceptional service standards.

Throughout her career, Renteria has embraced every opportunity to grow, developing expertise in hospitality, commercial, residential, and deep-cleaning environments. She has earned the trust of supervisors and colleagues through her reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to support others, leading housekeeping teams and sharing her knowledge with new employees. Although she is not affiliated with a professional association, her work has been recognized through a written letter of recommendation from a former manager, reflecting the professionalism and dedication she consistently demonstrates. She believes that maintaining clean, comfortable spaces is more than a job—it is a meaningful way to care for others and contribute to positive guest experiences.

Renteria attributes her success to perseverance, hard work, and a genuine desire to help people by creating spaces that are spotless, comfortable, and inviting. Guided by her faith, she values gratitude to God, cherishes time with her family, and believes strong teamwork is built on kindness, humility, patience, and mutual respect. One of the most meaningful pieces of advice she has received came from a coworker named Jerry, who encouraged her to "never change" because of her exceptional character and work ethic. Today, she encourages young women entering the hospitality industry to remain humble, master their craft through consistent practice, support their colleagues, and allow their dedication and quality of work to speak for themselves.

Ten minutes with Tayla

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, dedication, and a genuine desire to help others. No matter where I work, I take pride in creating clean, welcoming, and comfortable spaces that make people feel cared for. I believe that when I give my best effort every day and pay attention to the smallest details, it not only reflects my professionalism but also brings satisfaction to guests, residents, and employers. Knowing that my work has a positive impact on others motivates me to continually strive for excellence.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the most meaningful pieces of career advice I have ever received came from a coworker named Jerry, who told me to never change and to continue being the person I am. His encouragement reminded me that kindness, integrity, and a strong work ethic are qualities worth preserving. That advice has stayed with me throughout my career, inspiring me to remain humble, treat everyone with respect, and continue giving my best regardless of the challenges I face.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering the hospitality industry to focus on the difference their work makes in the lives of others rather than simply on earning a paycheck. When you approach your job with humility, patience, and a genuine desire to serve, the quality of your work naturally improves and people notice your dedication. Take the time to learn your craft, support your coworkers, and never be afraid to share your knowledge with others. By consistently delivering your best and caring about the people you serve, you will earn respect, create meaningful opportunities for growth, and build a rewarding career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is working with people who do not always share the same commitment to quality and professionalism. It can be difficult when others expect you to lower your standards, but I believe those moments are opportunities to demonstrate integrity and leadership. By remaining committed to excellence, paying attention to detail, and refusing to compromise the quality of my work, I set myself apart and earn the trust of employers, coworkers, and guests.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide my life are faith, gratitude, respect, and strong relationships. I thank God for every opportunity I have been given, and I treasure the time I spend with my family and coworkers. I believe in treating everyone with kindness, working as a team, and creating positive relationships built on trust and respect. These values have shaped both my personal life and my professional career, and they continue to inspire me to serve others with excellence every day.
