Her Interview
Ten minutes with Taylor
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say just being flexible. Being flexible is probably how I got really so far in my career as I've gotten today, just being able to also move to different places because I'm able to just get up and move to a different city anytime I want.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take a chance. Take a chance and don't be afraid to do it. Sometimes you may step into a role that you have no idea about and you have to ask questions. Ask people questions, talk to your peers. The biggest thing is just take a chance. Never settling for less than you deserve as well will really kind of shape your career.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in student living is the turn aspect of things. We go through this period where everybody leases in on the same day and everybody moves in on the same day. You have to really just buckle down and work long hours, flipping the entire property, getting moving packets together, marketing stuff, keys, constantly walking apartments.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Everything in my personal life I kind of utilize in my work life. The honesty aspect. I love loyal coworkers. Respect is a big thing. Everybody has to be respectful. Bringing kindness from my personal life into my professional career has been what has gotten me far too. I give the same love to my staff and coworkers. I have an open-door policy. I pride myself in really being a Mrs. Get-it-done type of manager.
